Who are you?

Hi, my name is Bistra. My name means "clear" in Macedonian (my father was a poet and he gave me the name). I have huge respect for my name, as it gave me the roots to discover the role I play in this world, and so far, I've experienced my role as someone who is there not to clear but to blur this world as it is. Because the world's been stuck in unhealthy over-romantized clarity for a longer time, a very binary and opressive reality.

But another world is happening, inside this one, and I think my whole identity is about those spaces inbetween, the spaces that blur the boundaries, silos and categories of modern life. I am an entrepreneur and a poet, I love numbers as much as words, I am an TEDx speaker and a wife, simply a human in love with this Planet.

What are you doing?

I am the founder of larger.world, a green and mindful online space where I am hosting (and being part of) a continous unlearning experience, questioning all dominant narratives in the fields of sustainability, diversity and inclusion.

I find motivation in books, conversations and nature. I try to learn from trees, moss and gardening, and I start every day reading something, usually on my phone (a poem, an article, an interview - i have a list!) :)
This morning, I re-read an interview with author and biologist R. Kimmerer saying: “We’re busy looking for biological, ecological and cultural solutions to climate chaos. But mosses, which have been with us ever since they arose, 400 million years ago, have endured every climate change that has ever happened. Why are they so resilient? What can they teach us? What secrets might they hold?" Lovely questions to start the day with! :)

Why are you doing, what you are doing?

I believe we have a lot of discovering, questioning and accepting to do (as humans), because we center a lot of our work and life around ourselves, as species and/or individuals.

I see social innovation and entrepreneurship as a way to challenge the current economic system and build avenues for togetherness, for new ways of action and thinking. I know the world will be different tomorrow, and the day after, as a society, we constantly evolve. But if money and techonology could change the world for better, they already would have. So clearly that won't do the trick, and we have to find new tools and ways of creating and measuring value, and transforming our worldviews. I wish to contribute to those emerging worldviews with larger.world and everything I do.
